I wasn't sure I'd like this book. I loved Robin's early stuff. In fact some of her books are what turned me to Christian fiction. However, this one was about a widowed woman in her late 40's I believe. For whatever reason I tend to like the heroines to be in their late 20's early 30's. Funny, since I'm closing in on 40. That being said, I loved this book. It had a real beach/vacation getaway type feel to it. I enjoyed reading about Canary Islands. I loved the second chance at love that Robin gave Carolyn. I also loved the pics in the back of the book of Robin and her friend in the Canary Islands. Overall, a great second chance at love romance with a unique and intriguing setting.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Robin Jones Gunn was born in Wisconsin and lived on a dairy farm until her family moved to southern California when she was five years old. She grew up in Orange County and spent her summers at Newport Beach with friends from her church youth group. After attending Biola University and Capernwray Bible School in Austria, Robin and Ross were married and spent the next two decades working together in youth ministry.


It was the young teens at Robin’s church who challenged her to write stories for them. She hadn’t thought much about being a writer, but took their request to heart and set her alarm for 3am, three days a week. With two small children it was the only time she could find to write the first story about Christy Miller. After two years and ten rejections the novel Summer Promise was accepted for publication in 1988. Robin hasn’t stopped writing since. Blood of the Prodigal

I started this book a couple days ago. I should be done this weekend. The premise is very interesting and I'm far enough in the book to want to finish to see how the writer wraps things up. I will say it's a different feel than other Amish books for sure. Maybe because the author is a man. I'm not sure but it's definitely different and if you love Amish fiction you should pick it up. :)

Paul took an interest in writing fiction in 1993, and with the advice and encouragement of author Tony Hillerman, he began writing mystery novels set among the Amish in Holmes County, Ohio. A word from our Author: I started writing short stories—pretty bad ones. And I started taking creative writing courses to round out my degree. So I was in classes full of people just like me—lousy writers. But we were learning!



Then the Lord led me to a local writers' group, Capital Christian Writers, and the contacts and friends I made through CCW enriched my personal life and my writing life more than I can measure. Through CCW and through reading just about every book and magazine ever published by Writer's Digest, I started catching on. Now I'm writing full time and man oh man do I love it.



Before the writing began, I worked for attorneys in Washington, D. C. I worked for the Securities and Exchange Commission. And I was a stockbroker. A horrible stockbroker. How do people do that? Take responsibility for other people's financial futures? Yikes. I'm perfectly happy to take responsibility for the amount of time any one person wants to spend reading my books. If you enjoy the experience, then know that we both enjoyed it together. I love that about books.



In the midst of all that fretting over other people's money and writing about other people's lives, I racked up a few personal experiences myself. Some good, some bad, but all part of God's plan. Now I'm an empty nester living in Northern Virginia. My brilliantly funny son is in college. I have a savvy, gorgeous grown daughter, a charming son-in-law, and an amazing grandson.

I knew I would write this book while I wrote the first, so it was fun to plant a passing mention of Zack and Tina while I wrote Steph's story in The Perfect Blend. By the time I was able to write Tina and Zack's story, I was eager to unfold their lives, conflicts, and love. I hope readers will be eager to experience what happens to them!

While I write contemporary fiction, I love to lose myself in a good historical. There's something relaxing about reading about another time and place. Especially when the writer is as gifted as Tracie Peterson. I'd read book one in this series, Embers of Love and was anxiously awaiting this installment. When I first started the book there was a traumatic incident that was very hard to read. I struggled getting into the story for a little bit just because of the heaviness. However, the story soon picked up and I once again found myself turning pages. Overall, I can't wait for book three and would highly suggest this series to anyone looking for a great historical read!

The Girl In the Gatehouse...Julie Klassen

Next time I'll know. :) Klassen is a very talented writer--with more than a little backbone. She had me hooked from page one and had me reading well into the night.  I think what I like most is that she tackles issues that of that time were more than taboo and does so with grace. I thought I knew where she was going with the story and while I was partially right, she surprised me by not taking any shortcuts and making the story as real to life as she could.  I enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it to anyone who likes great historicals with a touch of scandal. I received this book for review from the publisher.

Nancy Moser I finished Masquerade in one weekend. It's a wonderful book. I expected nothing less from this author. A long time ago I read a book by Nancy titled The Invitation. I mention that because when you read that book, or any book in the Mustard Seed series, you'll know that Nancy Moser is a gifted and special author. She doesn't just write well, she uses her God given gift to tell a story that will keep you spellbound until you finish.  Masquerade was no different. It was in some ways what I was expecting of the subject matter and time period, however, I found myself surprised by the twists and turns in this complex plot. I enjoyed Dead Reckoning and knew that she was a talented writer. I had no doubt Nightshade would be good, but she's exceeding all my expectations as I read this one. I love the broken character in Max and I love the story line. Give me a military man any day. :) The cover is gorgeous and you'll love where she takes you with this one. Ronie has been married since 1990 to a man who can easily be defined in classic terms as a hero. She has four beautiful children. Her eldest daughter is 16 this year, her second daughter will be 13, and her twin boys are 10. After having four children, she finally finished her degree in December 2006. She now has a B.S. in Psychology through Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Getting her degree is a huge triumph for both her and her family--they survived!!

I graduated from high school at sixteen, college at 20, and completed my law degree when I was 27.

My writing journey started in 2005 when I decided to write my first novel. Now I have eleven books published with more on the way.

People say I've accomplished a lot and that I must have life by the proverbial tail. Hardly! I grew up as a home schooled kid when home schoolers were misunderstood and oddities.

I struggle with balancing my writing and law career, plus being a good mom and wife.

I often fear people won't like my books.

I've walked through the deep pain of miscarriage.

Really, I'm just like you – I don't have it all together and have gone through tough times. But in His strength, I've discovered a strength I never knew I had. A strength I want you to discover, too.

Stars in the Night was an idea that had begun to percolate in my mind. I’d written two World War II series and was actively looking for my next setting. My husband, a huge World War II history buff, and I were kicking ideas around, and I’d decided Hollywood was probably the next place for me. I’d gone to the library and gotten a stack of research books when I got the call. An editor I knew but had never worked with wanted to know if I might be interested in a new line they were starting. As we talked, I got so excited. And then she emailed me their guidelines, which listed that Hollywood was a location they were interested in setting books.

Only God could have known ahead of time. But because I followed His prompting I was ready to run with an idea. Stars in the Night is the result.

I waited to post for the tour because I was trying to finish the book so I could give my review. Wow. I must say I'm a big Women's Fiction fan. I love deep stories filled with drama and even some angst. I could tell by the back cover this was going to be a good one. I was right. I have a few more pages to go and am so into the story. I will say that if you can't handle a tear jerker or stories that take you on a journey, this isn't your story. You will be sad when you're reading this. Yet, it's a book I can hardly put down. So if you're like me and love a good drama filled book, think lifetime movie, then this is a definite must have!!! Looking forward to more by this writer.
