AHHH...ACFW CONFERENCE IS LESS THAN 6 DAYS AWAY!!!

Let me start by apologizing for not being a responsible Blog hostess. Sigh. I've slipped in my blog responsibilities of late, but I'm not entirely to blame...see I'm trying to finish up my rough draft of Rock Bottom so I can at least say I'm finished with the rough draft when I pitch it at ACFW conference next week.

Something occurred to me yesterday about said book. Since RB is a finalist in the Genesis contest, the editor I had planned to pitch to is also the second round judge for my category. So here's the predicament. I haven't received my comments for the second round yet (we get them a couple weeks after conference, per Camy Tang) so what if I pitch this book to this woman who's read the first three chapters and she's sitting there, familiar with the book, and little do I know... she hated it...what a waste of both of our time not to mention how stupid I'll feel when I get her comments back.

So I think I'm going to pitch something else I'm working on. So if any of you have an opinion...I'd be glad to hear it. Like Georgiana, if you read this, what are you going to do? Are you pitching your finalist entry to Krista or someone else? Or are you pitching it at all? Just curious. ;)

Ok, grasshopper. Have both pitches. First of all, tell her you entered it in the contest and you had hoped to pitch it to her. She can say right then if she wants to see it. Then, pitch the second one, too. Why not? That's what you are there for. Also, let her know about your reader status and how much you have liked doing that. They want to get to know you, and if these two things aren't right for them, that doesn't mean you aren't a good writer. It's just one more time for them to see you, get to know you.

I'll be praying for you!

I totally see what you mean! I'm not pitching my Genesis book at conference (actually, I'll have it as a back up.) I'm pitching my suspense. Take what you've got that you feel confident with! Look forward to seeing you!

Crystal's advice is right on. That's what I would do.

And someone better be texting me with the Genesis results during the awards dinner!

Oo, I have the same predicament with the historicals. Do I pitch it to Becky Germany or not??? Did she like it or not??? Guess we won't know how they thought we did until after Saturday. Looking forward to meeting you!

LOL, Erica, I know, I know. This is what I'm saying. You pitch to them, then get home and read their comments and they totally hated it. How bad will we feel? Sigh. Oh well, not much time to think about it now.

Anyway, good luck, Georgiana and Erica, praying God's best for both of you. ;)

And Crystal and Jen, I'm SOOO upset you won't be there. You will both be missed!
